I was contacted (via MySpace) by Lauren's Show, someone who does short video of various things in Indiana. It was a great opportunity to test the new video module. She was able to get two videos up. One about World of Warcraft (and missing class) and the other a tour of a hotel room in the Cayman Islands. She has more, but this is a good test run for content produced by a third person who wants access to the community that has formed around MFP.
And the WoW video is pretty good reporting. They could do with some kind of intro or something, but it definitely has possibilities. I probably won't be able to offer as much traffic as MySpace or YouTube, but I can give a lot of local traffic. More and more people are coming forward with different types of media. Good stuffs.
Nikon Update:
According to B.L. Ochman, who talked to Tom Biro at MWW Group, 50 cameras were given out by Nikon.
BL: how were we selected?
Biro: There is a healthy mix of individuals who are heavy photo takers and publishers, individual bloggers, and people who do interviews and other in-person activities that they share online.
Some are sports bloggers, others run local citizen journalism sites, others are involved in marketing or are just outspoken and opinionated users about everything they touch, and we wanted to try and get the best cross-section of feedback we could about this digital SLR.
Looking at comments it seems gigglechick and Mike Manuel are other recipients. Will some out of the fifty decide not to mention it at all?
Also, I've thought about setting up a Flickr group for photos I take with it.
Should be interesting to see who starts blogging about it over the next few days. I need to set-up some sort of central base for all discussion about it.
