Elwood Indiana
Alex Halasz and Jay Flanagan own 1529 1/2 South A in Elwood - Would you Rent Here?
The following is a true story (without malice) of my experiences dealing with Jay Flannagan (Jay Flanagan) and Alex Halasz, who own a building at 1529 1/2 South A in Elwood, Indiana.
Elwood Police Scanner Online - Beta Test
I've had this idea since I first saw it online for L.A. and New York, etc., but always thought it would take tons of resources to pull it off. I talked with Al Jordan (The Computer Dude - who runs ElwoodIndiana.org) about the idea and he ran with it.
Grassroots Journalism from the Trenches
Got one call. Two Lifeline choppers on the way to scene of an accident on SR 13. Then a second call from another source. I threw on a pair of pants and walked down to the newsroom with the D80 Nikon loaned me for 12 months. Al was ready and we headed out to get the story. We weren't able to bring the police scanner, though.
Elwood Indiana Audio Classifieds
Heh. The beauty of this is that it was created and submitted without being initiated by Al Jordan (who runs ElwoodIndiana.org) or myself. It's cheesy, but funny. You can be sure we're going to try to make this 'garage sale' and get lots of pictures. ;)
Midwest Grassroots Journalism Network
I was out shooting pics with the D80 Nikon is loaning me and happened on a fireman working on a Ford Snorkel truck, one of the oldest in Indiana.
Public Access Laws in Indiana
Long day today. Started out rather normal, but soon evolved into something interesting. Al Jordan, a friend who runs a site for Elwood, Indiana (he calls it a 'communication network...'), said he overheard someone on the radio with the dispatcher at the Elwood Police Station say that they were looking into the legality of continuing to give him the arrest reports (we came to find out 'daily log' is a better way to say it...) Imagine that! On a Friday! Not only that, he was told that if they had to give the records to him, there would be a $3/page charge for the information.
