After all the brouhaha (or is that brou-mua-haha) last week with The Star Press, I had a great example of cooperation yesterday with Al Jordan, the person who runs ElwoodIndiana.org (he's hesitant to call himself a journalist, although he's getting closer and closer to replicating the 'real newspaper' in Elwood online - with a thriving community to boot...)
Anyway, I was lamenting the fact I didn't go out and do any coverage (or get any) about Broadway's name being changed on MLK Day in Muncie, when I noticed a lot of cops around town - state police too. I noticed it, but was busy with other thoughts (wearing lots of hats yourself in the beginning is stressful and tiring, but it can be done...) about 'big picture' issues for Muncie Free Press...
I didn't think about it any more. Later that day, while on the phone with a citizen about a concern she had in the city of Muncie, I noticed a speaker and a group of people outside. I didn't even know anything was going on, being so caught up with other things (making a living for one...)
Later that night, though, I got an email from Al saying he'd gotten pics and had even wrote up a little story.
It was a historic day for Elwood, Indiana (once known for KKK activity in the 1920s), as it's the first time MLK Day has been celebrated officially in the city.
Anyway, we have a verbal agreement to supply each other with photos and/or text for our websites. Of course, I gave him credit (and link love - w/out a link-condom even! yikes! lissen up, Google...)

It's not a lot, but it's in the spirit of the web, I think. Which is one of the reasons we're gonna just maybe win the war to wrest the control of the media from corporations and give it back to the people.
The Ewoks were small and 'cute' and furry (a bunch of Muppets you could say), but when they worked together they could take out the giant mechanical MoJo-Droids and save the day.
Heh. Back to work.......
