Separating Advertising and Editorial in Grassroots Journalism
Submitted by kpaul.mallasch on Thu, 08/09/2007 - 10:01pm.You know, I was thinking about it the other day - is there any media company out there that has advertising outsourced completely from the company that runs the editorial side of things? Because, if not, that might be another area I'm pioneering out here in the Midwest. Surely there must be other's doing something similar?
Currently, most of our sales efforts are done by a third party - separate company - whom I'm splitting the revenue with on a commission only basis. Thinking about it long term, there are a lot of good things about having the advertising arm totally separate from the content side.
Thoughts?! Pretty please? It's Friday... ;)
