Pence-Boucher Federal Media Shield Bill Passes Congress 398-21

Washington, D.C.– U.S. Congressman Mike Pence made the following statement after passage of the Free Flow of Information Act of 2007, a bill (HR 2102) he originally authored three years ago:

“Today freedom won on the floor of Congress. With passage of the Free Flow of Information Act, the American people are one step closer to repairing a tear in the First Amendment freedom of the press and I am humbled to have played a role in this historic bill.

“I look forward to working with colleagues in the House and Senate as we strengthen the legal foundation of our free and independent press. I offer my heartfelt thanks to Rep. Rick Boucher, Chairman John Conyers and all my colleagues in both parties who labored to bring us to this moment."

This is very, very good news. For those of you not familiar with the bill, it protects those that 'commit acts of journalism' - which a lot of us independent publishers do on a daily basis.
