Outsourcing News Anchors - the Wave of the Local TV News Future?
Submitted by Dick McMichael on Wed, 11/07/2007 - 11:40pm.A Columbus, Georgia station is resuming local news after several years of being without it. The way it will do it could be the wave of the future. Its anchors will be located in Iowa at an anchor center that does local news for different stations around the country. The station, WLTZ, is partnering with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in covering local news and will even provide commentary by some of its columnists.
Is this a good idea? I have reservations about anchors not living the areas they serve, but I am will to be open-minded enough to give it a try. The anhcors in Iowa are attractive and quite professional. It just way work and give the other established stations with news departments a run for their money.
I have a comprehensive report on newsmanbook.com.
