Email Subscriptions vs RSS Subscriptions
Email Subscriptions vs RSS Subscriptions
Submitted by kpaul.mallasch on Thu, 09/27/2007 - 10:06pm.I just became conscious of something - I tend to personally be less apt to delete or skip something in my email inbox than miss it via my RSS reader. I guess that's pretty basic, but it strikes me as important. How would you quantify (via advertising) that email newsletters are worth more than RSS feeds? Do you think one is more important ... or rather, carries more importance in a person's online life?

Different opinion
My opinion is just the opposite. I opt in for RSS feeds but have limited control over what lands in my email inbox. So I am far more likely to do a draconian housecleaning of my email than I am of my feeds. And I spend a lot more time reading my feeds than I do my email.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
re ads: I will glance at non-blinking (non-annoying) ads that are cleverly written if I see them in an RSS feed; if I'm intrigued or charmed, I'll visit the site they link to. Otherwise, I seldom visit web sites based on ads -- and never if the ad is one of those screaming, blinking, look-at-me ads that are all too common.
Does that help?
Best wishes -
great input
