Happy Birthday, America. Happy Birthday AFP Print

Three years ago, around this very same time, I sent out my declaration of independence from big media. I thought it was worth a smile, but I was also trying to send a serious message. Amidst the soaring newsprint prices and declining ad revenues, the media corporations have more to worry about.

Elwood Police Scanner Online - Beta Test

I've had this idea since I first saw it online for L.A. and New York, etc., but always thought it would take tons of resources to pull it off. I talked with Al Jordan (The Computer Dude - who runs ElwoodIndiana.org) about the idea and he ran with it.

Muncie Free Press Changes - Screenshots

I had another idea for Muncie Free Press the other day and finally got around to implementing it. I'd love to have input on both the idea and execution. Thanks!

Scoop To Drupal Too

Still don't have comments reattached to stories and it's going to take a while to go back and retag/categorize the stories, but it will be worth it, I think. Now all the kpaul media sites (or most of them - the important ones?) are running Drupal.

From Scoop to Drupal

Well, I think I've finally been convinced to drop Scoop and switch to Drupal on Muncie Free Press.

My Must Have Firefox Extensions

Finally getting around to installing the last of my add-ons for Firefox. I imagine I could have imported the data from the laptop, but I wanted to take the time to browse around and see if there was anything new.

The Computer (Hardware) was Slowing Me Down...

Yeah, that's it. ;) Seriously, though, finally able to upgrade my computer (which, for the record, cost more than my current car. Heh.) I went with this Gateway - although, looking it up now, neither the website or the in-store person recommended this package for $50 more, with an LCD and photo-printer. Ok, just checked the website and saw it wasn't available in store. Didn't need the photo-printer or monitor, though, and I might need the $50 for the heater in my car (Bessie is her name, if you're wondering...) which went out today. The computer can make me money, though. I don't currently need a car to get to work. So it'll all work out.

Yelvington Living on the Edge

Steve Yelvington is living on the edge. Well, at least when it comes to Drupal. He's running 5.0 code at the moment over at his site. Will be interesting to watch. Not a lot of modules for 5.0 yet. And, as I've heard over and over, amazing how fast and well you can throw dynamic sites together now.
